2020 Florida Military & Defense Economic Impact Study
Florida's Governor, Ron DeSantis, has announced the results of the 2020 Florida Military & Defense Economic Impact Study, which measures the economic impact of defense-related spending in Florida.
ALBE Operations was proud to partner with Matrix Design Group and the Haas Center for Business Research to conduct the analysis.
Governor DeSantis said our study "...demonstrated that maintaining and protecting military bases and industry in Florida is a win-win for both Florida and the United States."

The Valley Partnership Joint Development Authority
The Valley Partnership Joint Development Authority (VPJDA), in late 2018, commissioned an assessment and action plan for the economic diversification of the Columbus MSA. The purpose of the diversification strategy was to mitigate the reduction of soldiers and defense contractors in the community.
ABLE Operations was tasked with conducting a gap analysis in the automotive, aerospace, cyber, financial services, and healthcare industries. This effort includes a holistic approach, including quantitative data available from multiple sources, and qualitative data obtained through local surveys. This project identified common goals and strategies at the community and county level, as well as build partnerships, and leverage resources and creativity to promote economic development and quality of life in the region.
Performance Funding Model
Florida’s Performance Funding Model was developed to drive stronger performance by measuring local workforce development boards on customized, agreed-upon goals, reflecting Florida-emphasized workforce development priorities, with aligned economic rewards for achievement. The Performance Funding Model is funded by a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Workforce Innovation Fund. The Model and its web application are being developed in close collaboration with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and the 24 CareerSource Florida local workforce development boards.
The Performance Funding Model encourages the 24 local boards to enhance services for Florida businesses, job seekers and workers. It is a commitment to rewarding annual achievement and driving systemic change to help Florida become the global leader for talent. The Model is designed to help the CareerSource Florida network identify, measure, reward and replicate success to better anticipate and address the employment and training needs of businesses, job seekers and workers statewide.
ABLE Operations continues to work with CareerSource Florida in updating and maintaining the Performance Funding Model. This includes calculations of metrics, analysis of state and local outcomes, and recommendations to policy.
